Branding is not just a pretty picture on a piece of paper or a flashy website, it’s a company’s’ promise to their clients and what they want to be known for. No matter how painstakingly the discovery process can be when developing your brand, it’s an absolute must! Yes, that’s right; it’s time to get your hands dirty! It’s kind of like a business self-discovery if you will, a path to enlightenment. Who are we? What do we do and why are we so special?
Do lots of market research on the services or products you plan to offer, find a way to make your brand stand out. No one ever said being and entrepreneur would be easy, you have to work for it. Do you already have clients? If so, what do they think of you, have they passed on any words of encouragement?
Does your company have a mission statement, long or short term goals? These are just some of those painful questions you should already be asking yourself. We could move on to the fun stuff like having a logo and website designed BUT first you really need to map out your plans first. Where you plan to be in six months, how many employees, if any are you going to have/need, are you working from home or is this a brick a mortar establishment? This is really just the tip of the branding iceberg. If you haven’t already purchased a domain name and a hosting planit’s a good idea to go ahead and do that. Don’t forget about social media; find which one if not several that will reach your target audience more effectively.
These are just a few things I’ve learned during my path with branding. You can always check out one of the great titles below to learn more 🙂
